With an overarching passion for storytelling in all its forms, Jill Marshall is the best-selling author of children's novels, picture books, and fiction for young adults and adults. Her series about girl spy Jane Blonde featured in the UK Times Top 10 for all fiction, has been optioned for film, was chosen as a World Book Day title, and has been published in eleven languages and twenty two countries.
Fifteen of her titles in children's and adult fiction have been published by 'big six' publishers Macmillan, Penguin and Hachette. In 2020, Jill independently published her new ensemble series, SWAGG, and all her other titles including Jane Blonde, Doghead, Matilda Peppercorn, her YA and adult fiction, using the end-to-end control and functionality of digital publishing to create ebooks, flipbooks, print-on-demand and audio books. All from her garage. All during lockdown. All combining the practical with the creative.
With Masters' Degrees in History from Camridge University and Creative Writing from Winchester University, Jill has enjoyed a twenty year career as an editor, writing coach/trainer and manuscript assessor. In addition to her own clients, Jill has provided editorial and manuscript assessment services to Penguin, Scholastic, boutique publishers and the Society of Authors. She has assisted over a thousand writers to embark on their creative trail, as well as working with established authors to hone their work.
Jill also has a passion for teaching and helping others fulfil their dreams, which stems from a long previous career in HR and Learning and Development/Organisational Design. Prior to giving in to her creative urges, Jill loved her role as Training and Development Director for a multinational telecommunications company (now Virgin Media). She's a popular and talented public speaker and trainer and likes nothing better than being on her feet in front of a crowd, from young readers and writers to C-Suite execs.
Jill grew up in Manchester, England and has lived all over the UK and indeed the world. She now divides her time between UK and the Pacific - a global citizen who is happy to work with clients around the planet. When she's not writing or talking about creativity, Jill enjoys any live music, dancing as much as her joints will allow, and sniffing out stories in interesting places.
